Seven Simple Tips to Protect Your Pin!
- Select a PIN that doesn't contain
information easily obtained about you, including license plate numbers,
telephone numbers, Social Security numbers, the make of your automobile,
the name of the street where you live, etc.
- Memorize your PIN.
- Never write your PIN on your card or anything you carry with or near
your card.
- Refuse to tell anyone your PIN or
account number, including financial institution staff and law
enforcement officers.
- Refuse to loan anyone your card.
- Know who you are talking to. Never give
unsolicited callers personal information or account numbers over the
phone. Police officers, law enforcement officials, and financial
institution representatives should never ask you to withdraw funds from
an ATM.
- When entering your PIN, block the view
of others by standing between the terminal and any person who is
waiting, or cup your hand over the key pad as you enter your PIN.
